Category: campus experience Video duration: 25 Years of Soulstice A Cappella - "We're all soul sisters!"
When Jessica Green came to Virginia Tech in 1998, it was her dream to be in an all-female a cappella group. But Virginia Tech didn't have an all-female a cappella group at the time... So she created one! Soulstice was born in 1998 and it has withstood the test of time. For the last 25 years, Soulstice and its members have endured adversity. From campus tragedies to a global pandemic, the power of song has brought young women together to bring joy into the world and remind us all that we are stronger when we unite together. Jessica didn't know at the time of forming Soulstice what it would turn into, but she is so grateful to see if flourishing with new soul sisters every year!

My name is Jessica Green and I'm here for the 25th anniversary of the formation of Solstice, Virginia Tech's first all-female acapella group. I went to tech 98-2002. And when I first got here, I looked for the all-female group to audition for. And that was a vision I had with my college experience. And there wasn't one. I decided there needed to be. So I roped in a friend and we plastered campus with flyers and held our first audition. That that was the beginning. I had no idea what the group would become when I started it. I genuinely, I wanted a female acapella group to be part of my college experience. And I didn't really think about where it would go. But never in my wildest dreams did I imagine coming back 25 years later and seeing what it's become. It's just tremendous. I have to say a huge thank you to every single person who's been a part of Solstice. I got it started, but they've kept it going. It wouldn't be around if it wasn't for every single person who's been in the groove. He's given their voice and their heart, and their creativity and their time. I'm just grateful and humbled that that it is what it is today. We're also sisters and we're all here for each other. I'm here for every single one of my soul sisters, so thank you.
