Jack shares his studies of Computational Modeling and Data Analytics (CMDA) and how he has diverse pathways to pursue in the future.

Hello, my name is Jack and I'm a second year student here at Virginia Tech. I'm a computational modeling and data analytics major, CMDA, for short. CMDA is a combination of computer science, mathematics, and statistics. And is integrated for both research and industry uses. CMDA was a combination of three topics I enjoyed in high school and the applications for my future career paths were diverse. It allowed me time to see what I wanted to pursue after my time in college. CMDA offers a variety of paths different emphasis. Popular examples include cybersecurity and economics. But it also is possible to have emphasis in life sciences or physical sciences. CMDA majors have many opportunities for internships. In addition, in our capstone course, we work directly with employers on datasets and issues provided by them. Many students are also able to work with the Hume Center for National Security and Technology Research located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center. I'm currently looking for graduate school for data science or a job as data scientist after graduation.
