Robert Gourdie, the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund Eminent Scholar in Heart Reparative Medicine Research, was recognized by the National Academy of Inventors as a rising leader in his field. A professor at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, Gourdie is a cell biologist and entrepreneur who creates knowledge and translates discoveries into solutions for medical problems. 

I mean, sometimes I can't believe that I'm lucky enough to have a job like this where every day I get to come in and think about the Christian, the things that interest me. It's a very fortunate job to him because I really enjoy it. And I've enjoyed her from many, many years. And that's the thing about research. And that's why it's to support it. And also the time for lay people, people who don't want scientists to understand why should we support? But sometimes working on that, the littlest, most arcane things and the people that do that type of thing, it can lead to findings and discoveries, but ultimately proved to be a great man.
