Congressman Wittman meets with Hokies on the Hill students

Glad to be here. Thank you for what each and every one of you do with Hokies on the Hill. Congressman Wittman is our only Hokie on Capitol Hill and our only Hokie elected member of Congress. And the students today having an opportunity to meet with him, is all about possibilities. So they look at Congressman Wittman and they ask him questions about what it was like when he was a student, and then they learn about his career path from being a student to being a Congressman. And it creates opportunities and possibilities and allows the students to dream that, that they can achieve, just what he's achieved. And hopefully some of them will do that over the course of their career. Well, I'll tell you, I learned as much from the students as hopefully they can learn from me. So it's great to share that experience and to talk to these bright students and encourage them on their path to where they see themselves best serving their commonwealth and their nation. So really it's about serving, leadership, and asking that question, where can I best serve, where can I best lead? And that's really what Virginia Tech's all about. Ut Prosim; that I may serve. Personally, I've enjoyed everything about the program. I never in a million years would have gotten the opportunity to be in a congressional office. Serving for my hometown district has been amazing for me. I think that, that has been extremely rewarding and that's not something that I would have been able to get anywhere else. From meeting Congressman Wittman today, the one thing that I hope students pulled away from this more than anything, is that the world is their oyster. And they really have the ability to do anything they want and in life. They are only limited by their dreams and as hard as they are willing to work to achieve those dreams.
