Students in Carolyn Copenheaver's Forest Ecology and Silvics class are learning a measuring technique that allows them to determine the number of trees per acre. Additionally, students learn about the environmental factors affecting the establishment, growth, and development of forests; silvical characteristics of trees; forest community structure and function; and forest ecosystem analysis.
