Asha Cheruvu, a graduate student pursuing a Master of Engineering in Computer Science, speaks on why she chose the Tech Talent Investment program and gives advice to incoming students.
Hi, my name is Asha Cheruvu and I'm a graduate student in the Master of Engineering, Computer Science and Applications program. I decided to do this program because I wanted to build on the fundamentals I acquired during undergrad. And compared to similar programs at other universities, I noticed that this program had the best possible advanced courses within the timeframe that I wanted to graduate. And it also had a true emphasis on preparing its students for advanced careers in industry. The Master of Engineering degree also provides an excellent opportunity to prepare for your career goals through challenging concentrations to specialize in. Now, this degree has really helped me prepare for my next career move by helping build advanced skills and machine learning, software engineering, usability engineering, and even blockchain technology. And I know that these skills will definitely be useful as I transition to a hybrid software engineer and data science role post-graduation. My advice to future students is to take advantage of all the opportunities that this program has to offer in terms of classes, the professors, and even just other opportunities around Virginia Tech as well. This is one of the best decisions I made as a student here at Virginia Tech. And I hope that you all decide to explore this program and elevate your graduate education. Go Hokies!
