Sydney Miller, Outstanding Senior in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies for the Class of 2020, talks about her time at Virginia Tech.

[00:00:00] >> Outstanding Senior is something that is a huge honor because it means that the person who receives it has given back a huge amount to their college and within that community they are a leader and a mentor to others. When I started out here at Virginia Tech I got involved in the professional organization for interior designers which is called Interior Designers for Education and Sustainability, or IDEAS for short, and I started out with my involvement freshman year sort of with the seed planted in my mind that maybe one day I would be president of the organization and now senior year here I am leading it. [00:00:39] And it's been a huge opportunity for me to take all of the mentorship I received as an underclassman and flip it around and give it back to the younger people in my major right now. Next fall I'm sure I'll be back in Blacksburg. I have a younger sister who's a freshman here now so I'll be back to visit and hopefully back to come see the interior design program and mentor people there as well. [00:01:05] My name is Sydney Grace Miller and I'm honored to be selected as the College of Architecture and Urban Studies Outstanding Senior of the Year.
