Meet Amanda MacDonald, the Undergraduate Research Services Librarian at the University Libraries. Amanda works directly with the Office of Undergraduate Research to provide students and faculty with research support as well as celebrating student's research activity on campus.

As a lifelong Mario fan, Amanda spends some of her free time playing Nintendo and collecting all their various consoles. If you stop by her office you might just catch a glance of some of her Mario figurines!
[00:00:00] >> I'm Amanda MacDonald. I am the Undergraduate Research Services Librarian here at Newman Library, and in that role I work as the liaison to the Office of Undergraduate Research. And so what that means is that I really serve as a direct connection between the libraries and the office to provide students and faculty with research support. [00:00:22] So one of the things that I do is I coordinate a series called the Advanced Research Skills series which is a six module online workshop series to prepare students for undergraduate research. So thinking about how to design a research poster or how to write a proposal for a conference is really the focus of that workshop series. [00:00:40] I also work in that same role as helping to support the university's Undergraduate Research Excellence Program. Which is a program that was designed to provide an avenue for students to start thinking about and tracking their experiences in undergraduate research and for the university really to celebrate their successes and to kind of recognize the work that they've done. [00:01:00] In my spare time and I love Nintendo. I've been a lifelong Mario fan, so from the original NES to Game Boys to the new Nintendo Switch, I have them all, I play them all, and I am not ashamed about it in anyway.
