Category: campus experience Video duration: Board of Visitors seeks student representatives

Each year, Virginia Tech's Board of Visitors selects one undergraduate student representative and one graduate student representative to serve a one-year term from July 1 through June 30. Applications are being accepted through February 14, 2020. Candidates are evaluated on leadership involvement, academic record, ability to work with administrators and faculty, and ability to represent a broad range of student interests.

[00:00:00] >> When I first came to Virginia Tech, I wanted to kind of be a little bit more involved. My main driver was seeing that I could effect change here and that this seemed to be the best role. You're the voice for the largest population of students here for Virginia Tech. [00:00:15] I wanted to advocate a little bit more for services for students on extended campuses. I've learned through interactions that I get to have with the higher administration at Virginia Tech that student voices are really valued. I think the most surprising thing is I wasn't expecting the family that I would get with either administration and students that maybe I would never meet with without having this role.
