Amin Abbasi Baghbadorani, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geosciences, talks about his geophysics research.

>> My name is Amin, and I'm starting my third year of PhD. Imagine you're a miner 2,000 feet below the surface and you want to see what's beyond the mine wall that you're drilling into. We do the same similar techniques as X-rays. What I'm hoping is to package the technique that I'm working on for the miners.

To put their mind at ease and their family at ease every morning that they go out underground, and make sure they come out safe. The welcoming and the family feeling that I got when I visited, convinced me that this is a good place to live. And that's why I picked Virginia Tech.
