University Libraries' Media Design Studio manager, Alice Rogers, spends her days connecting students and faculty with technology they need to create all kinds of media content. From software trainings and workshops, to coaching student workers and patrons, she ensures the Media Design Studios run smoothly.

When not at the University Libraries, Alice taps into her music background by occasionally playing a wind controller as well playing the banjo in a local band.

Connect with Alice in the Media Design Studio or via email at rogersa@vt.edu.

[00:00:00] >> My name is Alice Rogers. I am manager of the Media Design Studios here at the University Libraries. The Media Design Studios provide access to a number of resources patrons might not otherwise have such as the Adobe Creative Suite, cameras, VR headsets, and just all kinds of different things that you might want to create media with. [00:00:27] My job is to make sure these space is working well, they work smoothly and people can have access to them as well as teaching a lot. I teach our student workers how to work with patrons and how to use the software. I also teach workshops, open to anybody in the community, as well as classes at Virginia Tech. [00:00:47] I'll give select sessions on different types of software and hardware available in the studio. When I'm not working, I play a lot of music. My undergraduate degree, I majored in saxophone and electronic performance, and so I have a wind controller of that I play sometimes, and I also play banjo in a local band. [00:01:07] And it really pairs nicely with my job because you can record all sorts of music, particularly in Media Design Studio B, we have a sound booth, we have a lot of microphones, you can really get a good sound there.
