Virginia Tech's Virtual Environments Studio gives students, faculty, and other visitors an opportunity to experience virtual reality in a relaxed setting that allows them to explore the technology.
[00:00:00] >> The Virtual Environments Studio is an open space. It's open to the community, not just the VT community, but the public at large. "That's so cool." We have a mission within the Virtual Environments Studio and also the University Libraries as a whole to do that sort of outreach to the community and offer them what resources we can. [00:00:18] So people who might be afraid of the technology or not really know necessarily the ins and outs of setting it up themselves don't have to worry about that. They can come in and they can try it out and use it in this space without having that expertise upfront. [00:00:32] People see commercials for virtual reality technology and they get this impression of like, ' that seems pretty cool' but until you actually really wear one of the headsets and experience it, there's a change. Now you get it. Now you see the potential of it and even to a certain degree we're just offering that place where they can come have that revelation and then that sparks brainstorming, that sparks creativity. [00:00:54] When people start thinking about things that they wouldn't have thought of if they had actually but that headset on.
