Special Collections celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with an exhibit.
[00:00:14] >> My name is Marc Brodsky I am public services and reference archivist here at Special Collections at Virginia Tech. The exhibit is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and Apollo 11 was the NASA mission that landed man on the moon. We have Michael Collins copy of the Apollo 11 flight plan. [00:00:44] This was Collins's own copy Collins was the command module pilot. This represents this historical moment in the effort that resulted in this case the mission that landed folks on the moon for the 1st time. I think about what huge effort it was. It was 1961 when John Kennedy basically made that speech and said we're going to land a man on the moon and return him safely to Earth before the end of the decade and that's what they did.
