Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners from across the Commonwealth will travel to Blacksburg for this year's annual continuing education event, Master Gardener College.

Master Gardener College will begin June 22 with training to certify advanced Extension Master Gardener Land Stewards. When they return home, Land Stewards will be prepared to contribute an advanced knowledge of firewise landscaping, wildlife, and land conservation to their communities. June 23-26 will feature a variety of tours around the New River Valley, concurrent sessions covering topics such as vegetable grafting, dahlia growing, volunteerism, and landscape design, and keynote speaker sessions on urban agriculture, Virginia's native grasslands, and more.

Registration for college is open to all Virginia Extension Master Gardeners until June 15. Go here for more information and to register. Housing on Virginia Tech's campus is available.

This year's event marks the 34th annual Master Gardener College, with recent events taking place in Norfolk in 2019 and virtually in 2020. In 2021, the Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardener program hosted the International Master Gardener Conference.

Extension Master Gardener volunteers bring the resources of Virginia’s land-grant universities – Virginia Tech and Virginia State University – to the people of the commonwealth. Contact your local Extension Master Gardeners through your Extension office or click here to learn more about gardening in Virginia and the Virginia Extension Master Gardener program.
