Title IX changes discussed with students this week

From: Office for Equity and Accessiblity

In May 2020, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced new federal regulations governing how educational institutions handle reports of sexual harassment and violence. They require that Virginia Tech adopt new policies and procedures for handling reports concerning both students and employees. These new regulations solely address the handling of reports of sexual harassment and violence.

Katie Polidoro, the university’s Title IX Coordinator, and Harrison Blythe, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, will be talking with students about the changes that Virginia Tech is required to make, and listening to students concerns and questions during two Zoom question and answer sessions this week. The sessions will be hosted by student leaders within the Student Government Association, the Graduate Student Assembly, the Commission on Student Affairs, and the Undergraduate and Graduate Representatives to the Board of Visitors.

Sessions will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Thursday, Aug. 6 from 5:30-6:30 pm. Click the link below to join a session.
