Understanding How to Pay for College

The Dean of Students, Hokie Wellness, University Scholarships and Financial Aid, and the Black Cultural Center are teaming up to present Understanding How to Pay for College. The presentation is Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Black Cultural Center, Squires Student Center.
Understanding How to Pay for College will provide financial information to students that will prepare them to knowledgably address tuition payments in the spring. Students attending will learn about FAFSA, how the financial aid process works, and the various loans and payment plans available. Topics covered include:
- Cost of attendance and expected family contribution
- Average loan debt range and percentage of students receiving aid
- Other aid opportunities
- Budget Tuition Plan
- Emergency grants
- Monitoring debt
The presentation will include a Q&A segment so that students can get answers to their specific questions.
All students are invited and those having trouble understanding how to pay for college should attend. The event is free and students are asked to register at https://gobblerconnect.vt.edu/event/7570295/rsvp. Food will be provided.
