Register for today's Principles of Community workshops

From: Office for Inclusion and Diversity

This year's theme for Principles of Community Week is “Moving from Words to Actions." Today you can learn about “Crucial Conversations.” A crucial conversation is a discussion between two or more people where the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong. When conversations turn crucial, people tend to follow one of two paths: we either don't hold the conversations or we don't hold them well. There is a better way to handle these Crucial Conversations and turn disagreement into dialogue for improved relationships and results.

To learn more about Crucial Conversations, join Sarah Dreier from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. March 13 at University Mall 2104 for Principles of Community workshop, "Intro to Crucial Conversations." Enroll in the course.

Another course offered on the 13th is "5 Chairs, 5 Choices," also facilitated by Sarah Dreier. This workshop will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. both virtually via Zoom and in-person at University Mall 2104. Enroll in the course.

Principles of Community Week is the annual celebration of the fundamental concepts that support InclusiveVT, our institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence. These principles reinforce our aspirations for a diverse and inclusive campus, where we can freely express and explore ideas in an atmosphere of empathy, civility, and mutual respect.

This year, the week will run from March 13 to March 17 with 21 engaging hybrid, virtual, and in-person workshops that offer the potential to earn digital badges. There are limited spaces available for the in-person workshops, so it is important to register soon!
