Online collaboration is no longer just an alternative for many university employees—it’s become a necessity as many of us continue to perform some or all of our work remotely. Virginia Tech offers several collaborative tools that allow teams to communicate, create and share content, and manage projects online.

Knowing how to best utilize these tools is key to helping your group stay connected and work together effectively in an online environment, and that’s why Collaborative Computing Solutions (CCS) has added two new courses to Technology-enhanced Learning and Online Strategies' Professional Development Network (PDN) lineup for fall 2020: Collaboration using G Suite and Collaboration using Microsoft Teams.

Each course will help you gain foundational knowledge of Google G Suite for Education and Microsoft Teams, respectively. Each one-hour, online session will

  • provide a brief overview of the tool
  • explore features and benefits
  • demonstrate various uses of the tool 
  • discuss the tool’s data compliance capabilities
  • discuss modern collaboration strategies 

After completing either course, you will be better equipped to identify the collaborative tools that are most useful for your group’s needs and better understand how to use the tool’s features for efficient, effective collaboration with colleagues, research teams, classes, and other groups.
