Spring 2022 commencement transportation information now available

Commencement parking map
The Chicken Hill, Maintenance Lot, and Stadium Lots are all available for commencement parking.

Parking for the general public throughout all of the commencement ceremonies on May 11 - May 14 will be available without payment in the following lots:

  • Chicken Hill Lot
  • Stadium Lot
  • Maintenance Lot

To help support the University Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 13, parking across campus will be available at no charge until noon. After noon, visitors will be asked to pay for parking with Parkmobile or obtain a permit. Information on campus parking for visitors is available online.

At all other times, in lots not designated for commencement ceremony parking, drivers are required to use Parkmobile or display a valid parking permit. 

Please note, the West Stadium Lot (outside of the stadium towers) and Lot 4 (across Beamer Way next to the softball field) will be restricted to authorized vehicles only during commencement.  

Alternative Transportation

The community is encouraged to utilize Blacksburg Transit's (BT) bus network to get to and from commencement. Blacksburg Transit commencement detours and service is available online. 

To ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety during high volume commencement traffic, Spin e-scooters will not be available from noon on Wednesday, May 11 until Sunday, May 15.

Accessible parking, entrances

There is reserved ADA parking in Lot 2, near Beamer Way.
