Tips for navigating the Perry Street Garage during high-traffic periods

To accommodate the increased volume of vehicular traffic leaving the Perry Street Garage during the Town of Blacksburg’s development of the Blacksburg Transit Multi-Modal Transit Facility, the following actions by drivers are recommended to alleviate congestion during the afternoon hours on Monday - Friday:

  • If possible, drivers should plan to leave the garage outside of peak traffic leaving the Perry Street Garage, which occurs between the hours of 5 - 6 p.m.

  • Upon exiting the garage, drivers should utilize the new exit that routes vehicles through the Stanger Street roundabout to allow for left turns onto Prices Fork Road. Left turns from the garage onto Prices Fork Road are not currently permitted between the hours of 3 - 6 p.m. The new alternative exit, routing drivers along Goodwin Hall, is available during peak afternoon traffic hours.

  • If traffic exiting to Prices Fork is congested, drivers should use the new exit to maintain egress from the parking garage.

If possible, Faculty/Staff permit holders may also consider utilizing other nearby surface parking lots to avoid garage traffic.

Set to deliver a central transportation hub and alternative transportation facilities to the North Academic District, the Blacksburg Transit Multi-Modal Transit Facility is projected to be complete in 2023.
