To accommodate the increased volume of vehicular traffic leaving the Perry Street Garage during the Town of Blacksburg’s development of the Multi-Modal Transit Facility, the following actions by drivers are recommended to alleviate congestion during the afternoon hours on Monday - Friday:

  • If possible, drivers should plan to leave the garage outside of peak traffic leaving the Perry Street Garage, which occurs between the hours of 5 - 6 p.m. Upon exiting the garage, drivers may utilize three exit options:
    • The Prices Fork exit routes vehicles from the Perry Street Garage to Prices Fork. Left turns from the garage onto Prices Fork Road are not currently permitted between the hours of 3 - 6 p.m.
    • The Goodwin Hall exit routes vehicles from the Perry Street Garage along Goodwin Hall through the Stanger Street roundabout to allow for left turns onto Prices Fork Road. If traffic exiting to Prices Fork is congested, drivers should use this exit to maintain egress from the parking garage. Please note, this exit may be periodically closed during non-peak traffic hours to accommodate capital construction efforts on the Multi-Modal Transit Facility.
    • The West Campus Drive exit routes vehicles from the Perry Street Garage through the Multi-Modal Transit Facility, passing the construction of the Undergraduate Science Laboratory Building and onto West Campus Drive. This exit is currently available Monday - Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. Please note, this route is reserved for exit traffic only (no entrance to the garage is permitted through this route). Upon arriving at West Campus Drive, drivers must turn right only. Please note, the stop light will remain red. Drivers should exercise caution and turn right when able to do so.
  • If possible, Faculty/Staff permit holders may also consider utilizing other nearby surface parking lots to avoid garage traffic.
