Old medications taking up room in your bathroom cabinet?

The Virginia Tech campus community has a safe, convenient, and environmentally-responsible way to dispose of unused medication with an on-campus medication disposal kiosk.

Located in the Public Safety Building lobby, campus members can drop off their unused, unwanted, or expired prescription and over-the-counter medication in the red kiosk from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Participants should first check in with the Security Center straight through the double doors off the lobby for an officer who will open the unit and record the disposal.

Safe medication disposal decreases the potential for medication misuse. It also aids in inhibiting the contamination of local landfills and water supplies from unused medication.

Before disposing medications, those taking advantage of the kiosk should scratch out all personal information on the empty medicine packaging to protect their identity and privacy, and then throw out the packaging.
