Traffic, pedestrian impacts: Summer construction work continues on the Blacksburg campus

To accommodate summer capital construction and maintenance work, there will be periodic road and pedestrian route closures and traffic delays in limited areas of Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus during May - August.

Traffic delays from capital construction efforts

Stanger Street single lane closure: July

To accommodate capital construction efforts on the New Upper Quad Residence Hall, there will be a single lane closure on Stanger Street near Old Turner Street to Major Williams Hall from approximately Monday, July 10 - Friday, July 28.

Flaggers and directional signage will be posted to assist with navigation. During this time, drivers should exercise caution and obey posted signage.

During construction, a portion of Stanger Street will be limited to one-lane traffic only with flaggers and directional signage posted to assist with navigation.

Ag Quad Parking Lot closure: May - August

To accommodate capital construction efforts on Slusher Hall, a portion of the Ag Quad Parking Lot along with nearby sidewalks leading to and along Slusher Hall will be closed from approximately Monday, May 15 - Friday, Aug. 11. 

During this time, all ADA parking spaces will remain available. 

Drivers are encouraged to utilize nearby alternative parking lots and to exercise caution and obey posted signage. 

Alternative pedestrian routes will be available alongside the construction fencing through the Ag Quad Parking Lot to the Drillfield. Accessible pathways will not be impacted by this work. 

Directional signage will be posted to assist with navigation.

During construction, a portion of the Ag Quad Parking Lot along with nearby pathways to Slusher Hall will be closed. ADA parking spaces will not be impacted. Alternative pedestrian pathways will be available alongside the construction fence line.

Parking, pedestrian impacts from maintenance efforts

Johnson Hall sidewalk closure: May - August

To accommodate sewer line replacement efforts, a limited portion of the sidewalk adjacent to Johnson Hall will be closed from approximately Monday, May 15 - Friday, Aug. 4. 

During this time, pedestrians may utilize nearby alternative sidewalks to access Johnson Hall.

During maintenance, all sidewalks will remain open with the exception of the sidewalk closest to Johnson Hall.

Military Building parking lot, bus shelter closure: May - August

To accommodate condensate line maintenance efforts, the parking lot adjacent to the Military Building and the nearby bus shelter will be temporarily closed from approximately Monday, May 15 - Friday, Aug. 4. 

During this time, drivers are encouraged to utilize nearby parking lots. Riders should use alternative bus shelters. The sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians.

During maintenance, the bus shelter and small parking lot in front of the Military Building will be closed.

Stadium Lot closure: May - August

To accommodate waterline replacement efforts, limited portions of the Stadium Lot will be closed in phases from approximately Monday, May 15 - Friday, Aug. 4. 

During this time, drivers should exercise caution and obey posted signage.

President's Quad sidewalk closure: May - August

To accommodate sidewalk improvement efforts occurring near the President's Quad, a limited portion of the pedestrian pathway adjacent to Newman Hall and through Barringer Hall will be closed in sections from approximately Monday, May 22 - Tuesday, Aug. 1.

During this time, accessible routes will continue to remain available.
