Register for today's Principles of Community workshops

From: Office for Inclusion and Diversity

Have you ever wondered how understanding our history can shape our future? For Principles of Community Week, today’s topic is “1872 Forward.” As we enter our own new transformative moment, what strategic actions can faculty, students and staff take, beyond recruiting and hiring strategies, in our diversity committees, in our curriculum committees, in our classrooms, labs, shops, studios and other workplaces — in the cultures and practices of our many academic communities — to prepare for successfully becoming the institution we dream of becoming.

Join Michelle Carter and others from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. March 17 in-person at Moss Arts Center for Principles of Community workshop, "1872 Forward: the Past 150 and the Next 150 Years, a Community Conversation." Enroll in the course.

Other courses offered on the 17th include the following:

  • "Moving from Conflict to Collaboration," facilitated by Henry Yampolsky in-person at University Mall 2104 from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. Enroll in the course

  • "Improv in Your Communication," facilitated by Sarah Dreier in-person at University Mall 2104 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Enroll in the course

Principles of Community Week is the annual celebration of the fundamental concepts that support InclusiveVT, our institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence. These principles reinforce our aspirations for a diverse and inclusive campus, where we can freely express and explore ideas in an atmosphere of empathy, civility, and mutual respect.

This year, the week will run from March 13 to March 17 with 21 engaging hybrid, virtual, and in-person workshops that offer the potential to earn digital badges. There are limited spaces available for the in-person workshops, so it is important to register soon!
