Transformative Conflict Management Series: From Breakdown to Breakthrough

  • Presented by the University Ombuds Office
  • Wednesday, Feb. 8, noon to 1 p.m.
  • Session via Zoom and will be recorded

Ever wondered how to manage conflict better? When conflict is not managed well we suffer a breakdown of one kind or another: physically, mentally, and/or emotionally. The reality is that conflict is unavoidable, and we will all experience conflict in one form or another throughout our lives. Whether it is with our roommates, our work colleagues or even friends and family we will, at times, come across those moments that result in misunderstandings, disagreements, and conflict. What doesn’t have to be the reality though is how long we experience that breakdown. When managed well moments of conflict can be transformed into moments of opportunity. Moments of breakthrough.

Join the University Ombuds Office for a three-part series of sessions that will explore conflict, different styles of conflict, and strategies and techniques for managing conflict so we transform conflict from a breakdown to a breakthrough.

Our first session will focus on the beliefs we currently have about conflict and how those beliefs determine how we act in moments of dispute.

Registration required. Please email us at ombuds@vt.edu and a registration link will be emailed to you.

If you are an individual with a disability and are in need of accommodation please email Serena Young at young7@vt.edu no later than 10 business days prior to the event.
