Middle-aged/older adults needed for compensated research study
From: Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise
We are seeking middle-aged, older adults to participate in a study (IRB Protocol #22-507) to learn if consuming artificial sweeteners have any impact on glucose levels in adults at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. You may be eligible to partcipate if you are at least 50 years old. If you qualify, you will be compensated up to $45 upon successful completion of all study visits
You will come to the lab and be provided breakfast with and without artificial sweeteners to determine if two commonly consumed artificial sweeteners have an impact on glucose levels. You will complete three visits in a random order, where you will receive either aspartame, sucralose, or the control.
This study involves 3 visits to the Virginia Tech campus, over 3 weeks. Total time commitment will be about 10 hours. The study will include a screening visit to determine eligibility, and 3 visits where you will eat breakfast and undergo a blood draw.
You will be compensated a total of $45 upon successful completion of all study visits. In addition, you will receive health information regarding your glucose levels.
