All employees are invited to attend the annual Hokie Wellness Health and Benefits Fair, held in conjunction with Employee Appreciation Day, on Wednesday, May 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lane Stadium, second-level concourse. The fair will host a wide variety of benefits, health and wellness, and Virginia Tech exhibitors, and is sponsored by Embrace Loans, Scott Bunn, Realtor.

Enjoy a cup of morning coffee from the Hokie Wellness Recovery Community Coffee Bike and an afternoon smoothie from the Alternative Transportation Smoothie Bike. Other features include COVID-19 vaccinations provided by New River Health District, chair massages, health screenings and more.

In addition, Hokie Wellness will offer several other programs during May including:

May 3, 3-5 p.m.: Stadium Woods Invasive Plant Removal: Get outside and join Hokie Wellness and the New River Valley Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalists to clear invasive plants in Old-Growth Forest/Stadium Woods, a 12-acre stand of old-growth forest next to Lane Stadium. Virginia Master Naturalists and student volunteers have been clearing the woods of non-native plants by hand without the use of pesticides since 2012. Gloves, closed-toed shoes, a bottle of water and long pants are recommended. Should there be high winds, precipitation or temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, the event will be postponed. Meet at the VT Engage parking lot at the end of Clay Street at 3 p.m. Registration is required.

May 4, 12-1 p.m.: Planning for Baby: This virtual program for faculty members is for those who are expecting the birth of a child, or for new parents of a child under three months of age. All expecting and new parents are welcome to attend, including fathers, non-birth mothers, and adoptive parents. Topics include benefits, leave, and resources available to new parents. (See May 24 for session for staff members.) Registration is required.

May 16, 12:15-12:45 p.m.: Outdoor Yoga at Hahn Garden: Take in fresh air and the beautiful views of Hahn Garden with a short, gentle yoga practice with Amy Epperley. Participants will meet in the Wedding Lawn. Plan to bring a yoga mat, sun protection, water and comfortable clothes. Due to limited space, registration is required.
