The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute study: Seeking drivers of company vehicles or commercial trucks

From: The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute

The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) is seeking individuals who drive a company vehicle, such as a commercial truck, a light truck, company car, fleet car, delivery truck, etc. to participate in a research study that will explore attitudes and perceptions about video-based monitoring systems in vehicles driven by employees. Participation in this study involves the use of Zoom videoconferencing software to connect multiple people electronically from the comfort of their own home or office.

To be eligible, interested individuals must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Drive a vehicle owned/leased by their employer for their job.
  • Have a tablet or computer with internet service and video conferencing capabilities.
  • Prior experience using Zoom with video and audio is preferred.

Participation will last up to two hours. First there will be a 30-minute session during which participants will, via Zoom videoconference, privately complete paperwork, and determine whether their connection to the Zoom Meeting, with their electronic device, is eligible to move on to the focus group portion. If eligible, the second part of the session will immediately follow. It will be a focus group with up to eight other participants lasting up to 1.5 hours. During this group videoconference, participants will discuss their thoughts regarding inward-facing onboard monitoring systems in vehicles. This project provides compensation of $150 for full participation in all parts. Your data will be kept strictly confidential.
