October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month: Learn how to help a colleague or friend

From: Hokie Wellness, Office for Equity and Accessibility, Women’s Center

This October, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month nationally, as well as in our community, Hokie Wellness, the Office for Equity and Accessibility, and the Women’s Center are teaming up to bring important conversations to campus.

Because of an earlier cancellation, faculty and staff are now invited to join us Monday, Oct. 25, at 12 p.m., in the Newman Library Multipurpose Room for “Creating Supportive Communities: Empowering Survivors at Work." This opportunity to discuss how we can all play a role in this important work will include talking through scenarios, answering questions, and sharing information and resources focused on how you can help if you are concerned that a friend or colleague is experiencing abuse.

For more information or questions, contact Katie Mey by calling the Women’s Center at 540-231-7806.
