    M. Daniel Givens named dean of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine , article

    Abandoned on a property in southeastern Maryland, a pregnant mare and emaciated colt adopted by Amiya Veatch are now thriving, along with the mare's yearling, at the Veatch farm in Fort Washington, Maryland. Veatch, a member of the advisory council of Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center (EMC) in Leesburg, Virginia, brought the mare to EMC for specialized foaling care.     On November 18, 2018, a crisp fall day in Leesburg, VA, friends and supporters gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the newly-renovated Youngkin Equine Soundness Clinic in the Fout Barn at Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. The renovation of the former open-air barn into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art sports medicine facility was made possible by a generous gift from Suzanne and Glenn Youngkin of Great Falls, Virginia.
