From: Student Affairs, Living-Learning Programs
Student Affairs and the Office of Living-Learning Programs invites you to submit a Living-Learning Program (LLP) proposal for communities that will launch fall semester 2024. To ensure enough time to launch high quality programs, proposals are due Monday, Nov. 7.
Virginia Tech LLPs are intentional communities where students make powerful connections between their academic and residential environments. Through academic partnerships, LLPs allow students to find individuals with similar interests and create a place they call home. These smaller communities help students create personal, professional, and academic networks, which support their success. In LLPs, students integrate their intellectual life with where they live, who they live with, and how they make meaning of their university experience.
There are now 18 living-learning communities, three residential colleges, and the Creativity and Innovation District at Virginia Tech, each with its own character and focus. The university has set a strategic goal of increasing the number of undergraduate students in Living-Learning Programs to 67 percent by 2024.
“By providing more opportunities and resources, Virginia Tech’s LLPs create conditions to help students thrive on campus,” said Jamie Penven, director of Living-Learning Programs. “LLPs are a terrific way to enact innovative pedagogy and create an environment that helps students make the most of their experience at Virginia Tech.”
