Beth Osborne appointed Pamplin College of Business assistant dean for administration
Beth Osborne has been named assistant dean for administration for the Pamplin College of Business.
Osborne served as interim assistant dean for administration upon the retirement of Kay Hunnings and previously served as director of administration and finance for the college.
Since 2011, Osborne has directed the finance and administration functions of the college, including the Business Service Center, which supports the college’s 12 centralized departments and centers and seven decentralized academic departments. Her experience includes managing administrative operations, budget and financial planning, human resources management, contract review, and scholarships.
Among her accomplishments at Pamplin, Osborne played an instrumental role in launching the shared administrative services model currently utilized by the college, which continues to maximize operational efficiency and improve service delivery. She has been influential in developing and implementing a data-driven model for using scholarship awards to help increase the number of underserved and underrepresented students in Pamplin. This work has resulted in a 98 percent scholarship utilization rate.
“Beth has a reputation for high achievement and dedicated service to others, not only in Pamplin but within the greater Virginia Tech community,” said Roberta “Robin” Russell, Pamplin interim dean. “Beth and her team’s efforts are fundamental to the college’s ability to achieve its academic mission, and I have no doubt that she will build upon the solid administrative foundation established by Kay Hunnings.”

Before her work with Pamplin, Osborne served as director of operations for the Virginia Tech Office of the Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion where, among other responsibilities, she worked closely with executive administrators, alumni, caucus groups, academic departments, and stakeholders to increase financial support for universitywide diversity initiatives.
She began her career at Virginia Tech in 2000 as finance and criminal records manager for the Virginia Tech Police Department.
Osborne was a first-generation college student and is a Virginia Tech alumna, earning her Master of Education in career and technical education with a focus on organizational psychology. She completed her bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership with a focus on workforce development at Bluefield College
In 2009, she completed the Administrative Management Institute at Cornell University. Osborne also holds two professional certifications in human resources.
Osborne resides in Giles County with her husband, Josh.
