Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet Nov. 17-18
The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the Torgersen Hall Board Room (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.
During the board's two-day sessions, the following committee and other meetings will be held at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center (901 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg):
On Nov. 17, the Executive Committee will meet in closed session from 9:15 to 10 a.m. in the Huckleberry Room. All board members are invited to attend a brunch, held in open session from noon to 1 p.m. in Latham Ballroom A with student leaders, student veterans, Presidential Scholars, and representatives of the Fraternity and Sorority Council. Following that event, an information session for all board members will be held in open session from 1:30 to 3:35 p.m. in the Solitude Room.
On Nov. 18, the Academic, Research, and Student Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room and then meet in open session at 9 a.m., also in the Duck Pond Room.
On Nov. 17, the Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet in open session from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. in the Solitude Room. This committee will be joined by the Finance and Resource Management Committee from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. and meet in open session.
The Compliance, Audit, and Risk Committee will meet in closed session on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Duck Pond Room and will meet in open session from 10:30 to 11:50 a.m. in the Solitude Room.
The Finance and Resource Management Committee will meet Nov. 18 in closed session at 8 a.m. in the Huckleberry Room and will meet in open session beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Solitude Room.
The Governance and Administration Committee will meet Nov. 18 in open session beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Smithfield Room.
During the two-day meeting, board members will receive updates, reports, or presentations on the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, the Innovation Campus, the Apex Center for Entrepreneurs, the strategic plan dashboard, agricultural facilities planning and construction, the construction and renovation budgeting process, and the administration and operations transformation process; will consider resolutions to complete the Athletics Weight Room Renovation and Expansion project and to discontinue the bachelor of science degree in engineering science and mechanics; and review planning designs to guide the construction of the Dietrick Hall Enclosure and Spirit Plaza.
