Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumnus Lt. Col. Roy Selvidge, U.S. Army, who earned a degree in architecture from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, was selected as the Hokie Hero for the football game versus Boston College.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets Hokie Hero program started in 2006 by IMG College, honors Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets alumni who are currently deployed. Recipients of this honor are highlighted by Jon Laaser and Mike Burnop during the radio broadcast of Virginia Tech football games, on the Corps of Cadets website and in the Corps Review magazine.

Selvidge is deployed to Iraq, Jordan, and Kuwait as a member of Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve.  He is serving as the U.S. Army Central Engineers Plans Chief (Forward) where he is part of a 60-plus partner nation coalition conducting a counter-terrorism campaign in Iraq and Syria.

Selvidge hails from Charleston, South Carolina, and is a Class of 1993 graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. As a senior he was a member of Ranger Company in Army ROTC. He says he sends his love to his friends and family, gratitude for those serving, and appreciation for the support of fellow Hokies around the world.
