To the university community,

As we come together for another exciting fall semester, we want to ensure that every member of our community is welcome and engaged in the Virginia Tech experience.

Each year following Labor Day we celebrate InclusiveVT Welcome, a time dedicated to InclusiveVT and strengthening our institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence.

Please take time to welcome those who are new to our community, engage in thoughtful conversations across our differences, and try to see the world from the perspectives of others. And I encourage you to participate in our scheduled activities that begin this week, including a keynote presentation on Thursday, September 15 by Judith Heumann, an advocate for the rights of disabled people who was instrumental in developing the Americans with Disabilities Act and other legislation.  Use these links to register for her presentation and learn more about other scheduled events for studentsfaculty, and staff that are designed to help us build the inclusive university community we aspire to be.

Thank you for all you do to make Virginia Tech a welcoming place for all.

Tim Sands,
President
