Cadet Victor Zorin, a junior in Army ROTC majoring in water: resources, policy, and management in the College of Natural Resources and Environment, will travel with the Hokies to receive the flags at Friday’s football game at Old Dominion University.

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the Virginia Tech football team continue their proud partnership to highlight the colors during the pre-game ceremony at every football game.

Three football players, chosen because of their performance in the last game or at practice, carry the American flag, the state flag, and the team’s spirit flag and lead the team onto the field. They deliver the flags to cadets on the field.

The cadets, also selected based on their performance in the corps, render honor to the flags and carry them off the field. An upperclass cadet travels with the team to away games. Three first-year cadets are selected for home games.

Zorin, who serves among the training cadre for the first-year cadets in Lima Company, is known as a cadet that goes beyond his call of duty to perform in an exemplary manner. “He is a constant boost to morale for both the cadre and first-year cadets and faithfully cares about his team,” said Claire Seibel, the cadet commander of the corps’ 3rd Battalion and a senior in the Citizen-Leader Track majoring in mathematics in the College of Science

He sets the example and “stands up for what is right, never backs down from a challenge, and truly brings a brighter light to his cadet company,” Seibel said.
