Cynthia Devers, who will join the faculty of the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech this fall, was recently named the R.B. Pamplin Professor of Management by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

Established in 1994, the R.B. Pamplin Professorship in Management is one of several named professorships established with part of the $10 million gift presented to the college by the Robert B. Pamplin family. The professorship supports excellence in education in management.

Devers currently serves as Lawrence E. Fouraker Professor in Business and associate department head in the Department of Management in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. She also has been a member of the faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Tulane University, and Michigan State University.

Devers’ research examines the influence of formal and informal governance mechanisms, social evaluations and individual differences on managerial decision making and individual and organizational outcomes. She has published 20 peer-reviewed articles and her work has been cited more than 1,500 times by web of science and 4,000 times according to Google Scholar.

She also currently serves as an international research fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation and as representative-at-large to the Board of Governors for the Academy of Management, the largest professional organization in field of management with over 18,000 members.

In the classroom, Devers is an award-winning instructor who brings experience teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels. She has taught a variety of courses in the areas of strategic management and organizational behavior.

Devers received her Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
