The Pamplin College of Business recently paid tribute to its Students of Distinction for 2022. This elite group of Class of 2022 students is connected by a shared commitment to academic excellence, enduring resilience throughout COVID-19, and an Ut Prosim spirit exhibited in the classroom, in co-curricular activities, and in the community.

Specific honors include the Outstanding Pamplin Senior Award, H.H. Mitchell Outstanding Leadership Award, College Service Award, and the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key.

H.H. Mitchell Outstanding Leadership Award: Kahlil Dover

Kahlil Dover, a graduating senior in the Blackwood Program in Real Estate, is the recipient of the H.H. Mitchell Outstanding Leadership Award, which honors a student who exhibits ongoing leadership and service within the university and the broader community at large.

Dover served both on and off the field as a member of the Virginia Tech Men’s Soccer team; as president of the Virginia Tech Student-Athlete Advisory Committee; as a student representative of the Pamplin Undergraduate Studies and Policies Committee; as a participant on Hokies Thrive, a group that strives to advance mental health resources for Virginia Tech athletes; and as a participant on Alternative Break in New Orleans.

College Service Award: Abbey Wills

The College Service Award goes to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.4 who exemplifies a superior commitment to service through engagement in Pamplin programs. Abbey Wills, a graduating senior majoring in management and business information technology, is the recipient of the 2022 award.

Wills served on the Business Horizons Committee for the past four years, engaging over 100 private industry partners in on-campus recruiting efforts and events. She was also a member of the Pamplin Engage undergraduate teaching assistant program and assisted the college with undergraduate student recruitment efforts. Wills continues to dedicate time as a volunteer with local adults with special needs.

Outstanding Pamplin Senior Award: Haseb Alim

The 2022 honoree for the Outstanding Pamplin Senior Award is Haseb Alim, a graduating senior majoring in marketing. The Outstanding Pamplin Senior Award goes to a student who exhibits leadership skills, is dedicated to extracurricular activities and community service, achieves extraordinary grades, and is a well-rounded and accomplished individual.

Haseb Alim has been deeply involved in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at the college level. Throughout his college career, Alim was involved with the American Marketing Association and served as an officer for Closing the Gap, a student organization dedicated to promoting dialogue between students and their opposing perspectives on pressing social issues with the goal of finding common ground. Additionally, Alim was an outreach assistant at the Center for Educational Networks and Impacts within the Virginia Tech Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology

Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key: Kathryn Anne Abel, Brendan Michael Abramson, Haseb Alim, Ashley Lynn Barlow, Hailey Amanda Page, and Brett Smith

Since 1912, Delta Sigma Pi has awarded a Scholarship Key to the Pamplin College of Business graduating student with the highest cumulative academic average in business administration or economics. The Scholarship Key is funded by Delta Sigma Pi’s Leadership Foundation. For 2022, Pamplin celebrates six students with a perfect 4.0 GPA. They are Kathryn Anne Abel, Brendan Michael Abramson, Haseb Alim, Ashley Lynn Barlow, Hailey Amanda Page, and Brett Smith.
