Dear Virginia Tech employees,

As we look back on our 2022 spring commencement and a successful academic year, I want to thank each one of you for your dedication to Virginia Tech and our campus community. This past year had its share of challenges, but in true Hokie fashion, you rose to the occasion. Thanks to your hard work and dedication, we grew stronger, advanced our research mission, supported and served the commonwealth, and ushered a talented group of graduates into the world where they will make a difference.

You deserve a celebration, and I invite you to attend this year’s Employee Appreciation Day and Hokie Wellness Health and Benefits Fair on May 18 at Lane Stadium from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Historically, the university held Staff Appreciation Day the Wednesday after commencement. This year, we have extended the event to include all faculty, staff, and non-student wage employees who work on our Blacksburg campus and in the surrounding region. We successfully managed the pandemic by working together, and it is fitting that we enjoy this in-person celebration together, as well.

I hope you will take this opportunity to relax, enjoy a meal, and participate in several activities that have been planned. Lunch will be provided starting at 11 a.m. with games and entertainment throughout the event.

The Hokie Wellness Health and Benefits Fair will host several wellness activities with special guests as well as offer opportunities to learn more about improving your health and quality of life.

Visit this page for more information. This day is for you as a small token of our great appreciation for your spirit of community and dedication to our great university.

All the best,

Tim Sands, President
