Virginia Tech sites in Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, and Washington, D.C., will be closed today.

The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg will open for outpatient appointments and elective cases at 10 a.m. today.
 
Essential personnel should report as scheduled.
 
The center will be open for emergency cases and staffed to attend to current inpatients.

The Alson H. Smith Jr. Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Winchester will open two hours late.

7:49 a.m., Jan. 6

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of Southwestern Virginia. Given the possiblity of accumulating snow this evening, snow emergency routes will take effect at 5 p.m. today.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has also declared a state of emergency for the event.
