Sherwood Clements, who will join the Virginia Tech faculty in the fall of 2022 as a collegiate associate professor in the Pamplin College of Business, has received the William and Mary Alice Park Junior Faculty Fellowship from the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The William and Mary Alice Park Junior Faculty Fellowship was established in 2015 to support faculty who enhance the educational experience of undergraduates aspiring to be real estate professionals. The fellowship appointment is for three years and is renewable.

Since 2010, Clements has served as clinical instructor and senior instructor in the Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies at the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business.

He is a highly experienced educator, scholar, and practitioner in the field of real estate. His scholarship examines herding behavior among real estate developers, real estate public equity related to Timber REITs, and the possibility of using real estate investment in China as a possible hedge against inflation. He received the best paper award in senior housing from the American Real Estate Society and has presented at several professional meetings in real estate.

Clements has taught courses on real estate principles at the undergraduate level. In addition, his practical experience includes more than a decade of experience in real estate appraisal, including owning his own appraisal business. He has served in numerous leadership roles in the real estate industry, including as chair of the Alabama Associate of Realtors chair search committee.

Clements received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, an MBA from Augusta State University, and his Ph.D. from Georgia State University.
