Babcock Letter to Hokie Nation

Dear Hokie Nation,

It is an honor to introduce Brent Pry as the new leader of Virginia Tech Football. He brings with him an incredible recruiting footprint in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a resume associated with consistent success as the defensive coordinator at Penn State, and an attitude that will resonate with our fan base. I could not be more optimistic and confident about the future of our program under Coach Pry, and I can't wait for you all to welcome him, his wife Amy, and their family to our community in Blacksburg.

Coach Pry understands the culture of Virginia Tech Football. He witnessed it firsthand as a Graduate Assistant under Coach Beamer and Coach Foster from 1995 to 1997. Coach Pry knows how deeply Hokie Nation cares about the success of this program and what it means not only to our community, but to our entire state. He is not only a proven winner, but a proven leader of student-athletes. Coach Pry's track record says that he not only can shift us to a champion brand in college football, but also develop young men into leaders in our community.

I also wanted to take a moment to show my sincere appreciation and gratitude for your loyalty and passion that continued to shine throughout the season. Our student-athletes have been through so much this year, and I was immensely proud to see them bring the Commonwealth Cup back home to Blacksburg. Coach Price has done a fantastic job representing our university as an alumnus in his interim role, and I am happy that Coach Pry will be keeping him in our program as well. We have one more important game to play. This team has a fantastic opportunity to cap off the season with a victory in a bowl game, and I hope to see you there.

This is the next step in our pursuit to have sustained success as a football program. Coach Pry gives us a chance to elevate this program to a contender on the national scene. Our fanbase deserves a chance to see our program win on the grandest scale. It will continue to take all of Hokie Nation to climb to this mountain top. I am asking you all to continue to make a difference in the lives of student-athletes as we continue to push towards the next step on the Drive for 25 while we Reach for Excellence!

Go Hokies!
