Mark Prescott, a dedicated Virginia Tech maintenance supervisor, passed away Aug. 27, 2021.

Prescott was born on July 3, 1955, in Clanton, Alabama. During the 1980s, he studied at the University of Georgia and later earned his Master Plumber License — for which he practiced for more than 30 years. He ran his own business, Prescott Plumbing and Heating, prior to joining Virginia Tech as a dining services and housing and residence life maintenance supervisor within the Division of Student Affairs.

Prescott loved the arts deeply, especially music, and volunteered annually at Merlefest folk and bluegrass music festival. His family described him as a mad tinkerer, with a mystic garage of many wonders. He also raised Labrador retrievers.

Prescott is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Prescott; his son, Sata Mark Prescott; and beloved aunt, Beverly Banicki.

A bonfire memorial was held on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at the Prescott home. The family welcomes cards and shared memories.
