Charlene Casamento has been named associate vice president for enterprise administrative operations effective July 30.

Reporting to Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer Dwayne Pinkney, Casamento will work alongside Virginia Tech leadership to execute universitywide operational initiatives. She will also serve as chief administrative officer for the administrative enterprise and represent Pinkney in executive meetings.

Casamento will play a key role in advancing the administrative transformation — a large-scale effort helping Virginia Tech build its capacity to deliver administrative and business services in the most cost-efficient and effective manner possible through the use of advanced technological systems and service delivery models.

She will also oversee the communications, HR, finance, IT, and organizational excellence teams within the Office of the Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer.

Most recently, Casamento served as chief financial officer at Central Connecticut State University for nine years. Previously, she was the bureau chief of finance and administration for the Connecticut Department of Transportation and chief of fiscal and administrative services for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.

“Charlene brings an unmatched breadth and depth of experience in leading finance and administrative operations across higher education, state government, and other complex organizations throughout her 30-year career. She will be instrumental in the realization of the institutional excellence aspirations emphasized throughout Virginia Tech’s strategic plan. Please join me in welcoming Charlene to the Hokie community,” said Pinkney.

Casamento earned a bachelor’s in accounting from Bentley University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Hartford.
