Snow routes were lifted for the Blacksburg campus.

The Reynolds Homestead Forest Resources Research Center
will be closed today.

The New River Health District reports that today's COVID-19 vaccination site in Christiansburg will delay opening until 10:30 a.m. This site is not open to the public; appointments are required. Anyone whose appointment is delayed or canceled will receive an automatic phone message.

The Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center will open two hours late today. All staff or faculty that have the capability of teleworking can do so.

The Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center will open one hour late today due to inclement weather.  Liberal leave is in effect.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Blacksburg and Roanoke areas beginning the evening hours of Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 through mid-day, Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021.

In anticipation of potential wintry weather beginning Jan. 27, 2021, Virginia Tech has put snow emergency routes in effect on the Blacksburg campus starting at 5 p.m. today.

This designation goes into effect prior to road conditions deteriorating to support snow removal and emergency vehicle movement.

Potential parking and bus route impacts

  • When a snow route emergency is declared, certain roads on campus must remain open for emergency vehicle use. All vehicles parked along five roads (parallel and diagonal) must be removed or they will be towed at the owner's expense.
