Dear Hokies,

You’ve successfully launched a new semester and believe it or not, finished the first two weeks of courses. You deserve this weekend — and I hope you make the best of it. Take care of yourself, get outside, and please take advantage of the great opportunities to stay involved.

Thank you for continuing to model an “others first” mentality, especially by observing public health guidelines. Students are keeping COVID-19 positivity rates low, and this is great news. We don’t want to tax already stressed community resources.

As a reminder, the governor’s directive still limits gatherings to 10, and we’re counting on you staying local, wearing a fashionable face covering (or two), and keeping those hands clean.

I couldn’t be prouder of Virginia Tech students. You are a shining example of Ut Prosim.

With hope,

Frank Shushok, vice president for Student Affairs
