Blacksburg Police continue to investigate reported burglaries in the Town of Blacksburg. These cases have been a priority for the department since initial reporting of these crimes. Please remain vigilant and report anything that appears suspicious. Every call and any information reported is taken seriously. More police resources continue to be reallocated to assist in the investigation.

This is a time to come together as a community and care for the safety and security of all our citizens. As we do with all investigations, the Blacksburg Police Department will provide the community with any new updates or safety concerns involving the investigation. The community is again, cautioned not to draw conclusions on any crime based on unofficial sources of information, including social media.

Update - Jan. 25, 2021; 3:26 p.m.

Since Saturday’s initial report, numerous leads have been generated with two additional burglaries having been reported to the Blacksburg Police Department. Detectives continue to investigate every lead and are working to determine if these incidents are connected.  In addition, uniformed patrols have been added to the apartment complexes and neighborhoods in town.

The community is cautioned not to draw conclusions on any crime based on unofficial sources of information, including social media. Additional information will be released at a later date and time.

Original notice - Posted Jan. 23, 2021; 5:24 p.m.

On Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, Blacksburg Police responded to the 400 block of East Roanoke Street for a breaking and entering of an occupied residence that occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 22, 2021. The suspect is described as a college-aged white male wearing dark clothing and face covering.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, Blacksburg Police responded to the 500 block of Sunridge Drive for a breaking and entering of an occupied residence that occurred in the early morning hours of January 23, 2021.

Several items were taken during these incidents.
