Weather updates: Delayed openings and closings for Dec. 17

The Alson H. Smith Jr. Agricultural Research and Extension Center will be closed due to area road conditions this morning and will open under a liberal leave policy from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Normal operating hours are anticipated for Dec. 18.

The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia will be closed for outpatient appointments and elective cases on Dec. 17. Essential personnel should report as scheduled. The center will be open for emergency cases and staffed to attend to its current in-patients.

Operations in Blacksburg and at the Health Sciences and Technology campus in Roanoke have not been affected by wintry weather. Snow routes remain in effect for the Blacksburg campus.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of southwestern Virginia beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 16.
Exams are expected to be held as scheduled for Dec. 16. If a student has an issue related to weather they should reach out to their faculty member. We have made faculty aware of the challenges that might exist related to this storm, especially further north.
