For the fifth consecutive time, The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center has received the Annual Readers’ Choice Award from ConventionSouth magazine and will be featured in its December awards issue.

“This recognition by so many professionals is tremendous validation as it reinforces our firm belief that The Inn at Virginia Tech is delivering a unique and desirable event experience,” Managing Director Tom Cupo said.

The inn offers 23,705 square feet of meeting and event space, including more than 5,000 square feet of recently redesigned conference space, which includes the same technology developed by the university for use in its classrooms. Against the scenic backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the hotel bridges the divide between technology and elegance to offer a distinctive meeting experience, from reimaging group dining to enabling connectivity for the rise in hybrid meetings.

The value in receiving this recognition from ConventionSouth is that it comes from the country’s top meeting professionals, Associate Publisher Ashleigh Osborne said. “These planners demand the highest level of customer service and quality facilities, and they have contributed in determining that The Inn at Virginia Tech indeed displays the commitment to professionalism, creativity, and service that they require,” she said.

Every year, the publication asks meeting professionals to nominate outstanding meeting sites. This year, more than 3,000 destinations from around the country were nominated. The inn is one of only 22 winners in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Over the course of its 15-year history, the inn has become one of the Southeast’s premier conference facilities, pioneering the use of virtual classroom technology to enhance the meeting experience long before the COVID-19 pandemic forced a global adoption of virtual gatherings.

In the past 10 months, the university has adapted further to stay abreast of the emerging needs of meeting professionals. For example, the inn now offers a “zero risk” meeting clause for new events booked through December 2021. This gives meeting planners the flexibility to adjust terms or cancel based on changing circumstances.

The inn is also offering new farm-to-table cuisine available through custom private group dining options that allow for safe, yet enjoyable, dining.

The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center is part of Outreach and International Affairs and is managed by Benchmark Resorts & Hotels.
