From: Virginia Tech Police

The Virginia Tech Police Department has received multiple reports of larceny of bicycles. Bicycles have been reported stolen from areas near the residential halls, particularly on the south side of campus along Washington Street.

Anyone with information concerning these thefts is encouraged to contact the Virginia Tech Police Department by calling 540-382-4343 or by submitting the information online at https://police.vt.edu/crime.html.

The Virginia Tech Police Department encourages all community members to regularly check on the security and location of their property. It is important to lock bicycles to a bicycle rack to prevent thieves from riding away on them. The Police Department encourages individuals to invest in a U Lock that will protect the bicycle more thoroughly than a standard cable lock. Most U Locks are cut resistant, meaning a hacksaw or bolt cutters cannot break the lock unlike a cable lock. U Locks can be found at most department stores or bicycle shops.

Community members should report all crimes and suspicious activity/persons anywhere on campus immediately to the Virginia Tech Police Department at 540-382-4343 or by dialing 911. Anonymous tips can be reported online at https://police.vt.edu/anonymous.html.
