Candace M. Fitch, professor of practice in the Howard Feiertag Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech, has been named the Feiertag Professor of Practice in Hospitality Leadership by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.

The Feiertag Professor of Practice in Hospitality Leadership was established in 2017 to help the college attract and retain a leading faculty member in the area of hospitality in hotel operations or food and beverage operations. Responsibilities include teaching courses as well as oversight of the Feiertag Academy-to-Industry Library Collection, also established as part of the endowment.

A member of the Virginia Tech faculty since 2016, Fitch has been a leading hospitality and event management professional for more than 30 years. She is a practicing attorney specializing in hospitality law. Her scholarship focuses on hospitality law, risk management, contract negotiations, and meeting and event planning.

She also is an accomplished chef and event-management expert, bringing unique perspectives to the events industry and her teaching.

In the classroom, Fitch has taught a range of undergraduate courses, including introduction to hospitality and tourism managment, event planning, and strategic management. She received a Virginia Tech Certificate in Teaching Excellence in 2019 and was named the Pamplin College of Business Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management Teacher of the Year in 2019.

Fitch received a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, a law degree from New England College of Law, and a culinary arts degree from Johnson and Wales University.
